The day served as an official way to honour those lost in Indigenous residential schools and also to reflect and become educated on Indigenous history.In Burlington, roughly 300 people took part in a Spencer Smith Park event that included a memorial walk, powwow dancers and speeches on the effects of residential schools. Toronto police say a man has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of a 72-year-old man.Police say the victim was found suffering from multiple stab wounds on Monday night and died in hospital.They say the 72-year-old was a visitor from China. Police say they have charged a 50-year-old man from Toronto with first-degree murder.
